Myths about underfloor heating

If you are considering underfloor heating for your home, you have probably looked on the Internet for some information about it. You will have noticed that there is an abundance of information available, yet there is one problem, and that is the fact that there are a lot of myths surrounding this heating system. That’s why we have put this post together; to ensure you know the facts.

Myth 1 – You can’t use it on certain floors, such as wooden floors, carpet or upper floors – This is false. With standard floor coverings, there is no issue using underfloor heating with the likes of wooden or carpet floors. Not only this but there are usually no issues when it comes to using underfloor heating on upper floors, and to offset any reduction in heat output the pipe centres can be reduced.

Myth 2 – Underfloor heating is too expensive – In fact, it is quite the opposite, as you can expect to save a considerable amount of money with underfloor heating, meaning you will soon make your investment back. This is because underfloor heating systems are exceptionally efficient and operate at a lower temperature, so you will reduce your energy consumption significantly while experiencing better comfort and warmth.

Myth 3 – The floor will be too warm for your feet – As you know, radiators can be far too hot to touch, however, this is not the case when it comes to underfloor heating. As mentioned, they operate at a lower temperature, so the floor will be comfortable to stand on.

Myth 4 – You need a special boiler for underfloor heating – Last but not least, a lot of people seem to think that a special boiler is required for this heating system, but this is another myth. This system can run off all of the heat sources that a radiator can.
